Privacy Policy

What we collect, what we never collect, and how advertising cookies work.

Last updated 2026-09-13

This page is published in English. The tool itself is available in all six languages.

This policy explains what ProjectBay does with information when you use projectbay.uk and its subdomains. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

The short version

  • Your files are never uploaded. Every tool processes files locally in your browser. We do not receive them, and neither does anyone else.
  • We do not sell personal information, and we do not build profiles of you.
  • Advertising sets third-party cookies on some pages. You can opt out — instructions below.
  • Preferences are stored on your device (theme, language, recent items) and are not transmitted to us.

What we never collect

Files you open in a ProjectBay tool are read and processed by your browser. They are never sent to a ProjectBay server, because there is no ProjectBay server involved in the processing path. We do not collect:

  • the contents of your documents, images, or any file you process;
  • file names, file sizes, or metadata from those files;
  • the text you paste into tools such as the secret-sharing or JSON tools.

If a tool ever needs to send something to a third party to work — for example, an IP-lookup tool querying a public geolocation API, or a currency calculator fetching exchange rates — that is stated on the tool’s own page, and only the minimum required is sent (typically an IP address you typed, or nothing at all).

What is stored on your device

Tools use browser localStorage to remember things between visits: your theme choice, your language choice, and in a few tools your recent history (for example, shortened links). This data stays in your browser. Clearing your browser storage for this site removes all of it.

What our hosting provider logs

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes ordinary request data to deliver pages and to defend against abuse: your IP address, user agent, the URL requested, and a timestamp. These logs are used for security, rate limiting and diagnosing faults. They are retained according to Cloudflare’s own policies, and we do not use them to identify individual visitors or to build profiles.

Advertising

Some ProjectBay pages carry advertising, which is how the site pays for itself. Advertising is served through Google AdSense.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu (EU/UK).
  • If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, a consent message is shown before non-essential advertising cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the link in the site footer.

Advertising cookies are set by the ad network, not by ProjectBay, and they have no access to the contents of the files you process — that processing happens locally and is not observable to any script on the page.

Analytics

ProjectBay does not run a third-party analytics product and does not track individual visitors across sites. Aggregate request counts from our hosting provider are used only to understand which tools are used and to plan capacity.

Feedback you send us

If you submit a message through the feedback widget, we receive the text you write, the tool it relates to, and the email address you provide if you choose to give one. Providing an email is optional. Feedback is used to fix bugs and prioritise work, kept only as long as it is useful, and never sold. You can ask us to delete a message you sent by writing to the address below.

Children

ProjectBay is a general-audience utility site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. In practice the only personal information we are likely to hold is a feedback message you chose to send. To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@projectbay.uk and we will respond within 30 days.

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the “last updated” date at the top of this page will change and the revised policy will be published here. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
